The Ecuadorian Marlon Chito Vera is earning a good reputation in the world of the UFC after the knockout victory against Dominick Cruz this Saturday after a brutal kick in the event star of the UFC San Diego.
The bantamweight fight reached the fourth round, but after the kick that netted the American’s face, the Ecuadorian is now one of the candidates to the title of the category.
Cruz and Vera fought during the first three rounds from their respective styles trying to impose themselves in their own way, although none showed signs of giving in to their rival.
But as the fight went on, Vera’s kicks began to hurt Cruz and it was in the fourth round when he hit him the kick to the face that left him on the canvas and the referee had to get in to decide the knockout.
With this triumph, Vera reached 20 victories, 7 defeats and a tie being the last four in a row against Davey Grant, Frankie Edgar, Rob Font and Cruz.
Ecuadorian Vera may be one of the candidates for the title in his weight, but that is defined after the fight between the champion Aljamain Sterling and the ex-monarch TJ Dillashaw the 22 of October in UFC 280.
On the other hand, Cruz is far from any title chance with his record of 24-4 and lose the streak of two consecutive wins over Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz.
In the co-main event, Nate Landwehr defeated David Onana by majority decision in a featherweight fight and also on the main card, the undefeated Mexican Yazmin Jauregui debuted in the UFC with a win by unanimous decision to the Brazilian Iasmin Lucindo.
