Alexander Zverev's chilling injury that made him drop out of the Roland Garros semi-final against Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal reached his fourteenth Roland Garros final after the abandonment of German tennis player Alexander Zverev. Zverev suffered a serious injury to his right ankle that alarmed everyone on the court and even Nadal himself.

The match was in the second set of the match, after Nadal had won the first by tie break 7-6 (10-8). In the second they were 6-5 in favor of the German when he suffered a serious ankle sprain that made him withdraw from the match.

The tennis player threw himself to the ground, began to scream and cry from the pain that silenced all the fans in the clay sand while one of the members of the medical assistance team was quickly approaching..

Nadal and part of the medical team quickly approached the German, who took several minutes to get up with help, but could not settle his right foot and had to be removed in a wheelchair to the dressing rooms to be attended to.

After several minutes in the dressing room, Zverev came out on crutches to say goodbye to the public in Paris, the referee and his opponent with whom he was having one of the best matches of the entire tournament.

The thousands of fans on the pitch gave the German a standing ovation as he left the field with his crutchs and who will have to spend some time out of action while he recovers safely from a sprained right ankle.

The two tennis players had exceeded three hours of play and the Spaniard had just equaled 6 games the second set, after having won the first by 7-6(8).

Nadal’s rival will come out of the duel between the Norwegian Casper Ruud and the Croatian Marin Cilic.
