Xavier López, better known as “Chabelo” ended his participation in Mexican television by stopping broadcast his popular morning show “En familia”, a program with which the legend about his immortality was cemented in the young people (now adults) who watched his show.
Since the last broadcast of his 2015 program, “Chabelo’s” participation in public events has been increasingly reduced over the years.
Recently, the journalist Gustavo Adolfo Infante, claimed to know the real reason for the actor’s departure, stating that Xavier López suffers from Alzheimer’s.
According to the journalist’s statements, “Chabelo” is reportedly being cared for by his family since his illness makes it impossible for him to speak fluently. “I know that my dear Chabelo is already in storage because he is not in a condition to speak, he has Alzheimer’s. Just like Polo Polo, who dedicated his whole life to talking and making people laugh, and Chabelo too, today they are unable to speak”, declared Gustavo Adolfo for “Sale el Sol”.
In a recent interview with Xavier López Miranda, son of “Chabelo”, admitted that his father was not feeling well, assuring that he had retired for health reasons, but without specifying the causes that affect the health of the actor. “Despite what some think, my old man is not eternal and has had a couple of difficult years. He is fine and very strong, but he is already retired,” he said. .
At 87 years old, Xavier López “Chabelo” has become into a cultural icon for hundreds of people who grew up watching his performances, whether in movies or on his children’s show.
