Ricardo Lara hopes to be re-elected as commissioner to continue empowering Latino communities

Ricardo Lara, California State Commissioner, is proud to say that he is the first Latino in history to hold the position. Since he was elected to the 2019 he has ensured that his department increased the outreach team to include bilingual staff.

This June 7, Lara hopes to be re-elected, ensuring that the results of his work make him the best candidate to continue in the position.

The California Commissioner oversees the California Department of Insurance, which regulates the state’s insurance industry.

On her way, Lara said who has won tough fights including holding the insurance industry accountable while fighting for health care for all. Also supporting California consumers during the unprecedented devastation of the covid pandemic-10.

Said he hopes to continue fighting for insurance companies to provide premium refunds to California motorists and small businesses due to the covid pandemic-.

“I was one of the first insurance commissioners to mandate that insurance companies reimburse and return premium discounts to Californians,” Lara said. “And they haven’t done enough. Our data still shows that they need to give more and continue to reimburse California motorists. I’m not going to stop until we fully reimburse people.”

As a commissioner, Lara has also helped California wildfire victims to rebuild their lives.

Lara and her staff have carried out more than 40 community meetings and events—including some in Spanish—where they have heard from thousands of home and business owners about the growing threat of wildfires on their lives and properties.

“We address wildfire preparedness and property evacuation issues such as, How to rebuild after a fire? How to access coverage from insurance companies?”, said Lara.

He asserted that this is in line with the work he has done prior to being commissioned as a California legislator representing to Latinos who feel they have no voice in government.

“Insurance tools are critical for the Latino community to build multi-generational wealth. And one of the things that we always talk about with our Latino community is the importance of getting a life insurance policy to protect your assets,” said Lara.

He also stressed that it is important to ensure that insurance companies invest their profits in the communities they serve by providing affordable housing, supporting small businesses and revitalizing the communities where they earn these premiums and where they get their money. policies.

The commissioner said that it would be “an honor” to once again have the support of Latinos in the next elections to continue serving in public office.

“I do it with an open heart and an open mind to show them that we can continue to empower the Latino community, that we continue to involve them in the government that they pay for and have every right to access,” said Lara.

He asserted that Being re-elected will continue to open the doors of government to Latino communities so that they can also benefit and continue to empower themselves and their families in their pursuit of the American dream.
