“I do not lose hope of seeing Chile in the World Cup”: Iván Zamorano is sincere as a fan and hopes for “justice” for La Roja in the case of Byron Castillo

The case of the defender Byron Castillo has made all the football fans of Chile, all over the world Ecuador and a large part of the world on whether it was an improper alignment or not and whether La Tri should be punished, as well as the possible punishment, which could even be to exclude them from the World Cup, giving their place to The Red. Iván “Bam Bam” Zamorano is no exception and was honest with Real America News on this subject.

“As a fan of course I would like to see Chile in the World Cup and I always see that minimal glimmer of hope that the team will go to Qatar, that justice be done”, explained in an interview the gunner who defended the jersey of his national team for 14 years, from 1987 to the 2001.

And it is that for a few days FIFA has been analyzing the case, after the Chilean Football Federation presented “convincing evidence” about irregularities in nationality by Byron Castillo. What the ANFP intends is to verify that the defender is not Ecuadorian and to win the games in which he lined up , which would put the Chilean team 5 points above the Ecuadorian team, with which they would qualify for the World Cup in Qatar 2001 instead of La Tri.

However, the “Bam Bam” knows that it is not a simple situation, since never before in history FIFA has administratively removed its place in the World Cup from a classified team that won its ticket on the pitch; however, he hopes that the resolution will be favorable to La Roja

“I see the possibility as very distant. They are specific situations in which there are no precedents, there is no history. And just as everything is silent regarding the investigation… I don’t know what could happen, but if you ask me as a fan, I do see that small light of being able to be in the World Cup. The more time passes, the more confidence is created and the illusion grows”, sentenced the now TUDN analyst.

The last thing that was known about the case is that the Ecuadorian Football Federation requested the 20 last May an extension of 15 days to present the evidence in his defense, with which they intend to prove that Byron Castillo is Ecuadorian by birth, that is, they will have until June 5. After that, FIFA will have to analyze both positions together with its investigation and present a resolution.
