The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, promulgated on Tuesday (24.05.2022) the law that regulates the development of the medical cannabis industry and the industrial hemp and stressed that it is a victory for society against hypocrisy.

“This is another victory for society against hypocrisy,” he declared the president when enacting the regulations, the result of “a great consensus”, in an act at the Casa Rosada, seat of the Argentine government, according to the newspaper “La Nación”.

In this sense, Fernández said that “in this matter he is very liberal” and “that is why he became the meat of this lawsuit”, while he has celebrated that the legislators of the Upper House, Carolina Gaillard and Mara Brawer, will promote the project.

The objective of medical cannabis is to provide a regulatory framework for public and private investment throughout the cannabis chain medicine and complement the current legislation, which authorizes the therapeutic and palliative use of cannabis in Argentina.

The authorities of the Argentine province of Jujuy announced in October that they became the first to use cannabis oil for medicinal purposes produced in Argentina.
