The Council of the European Union validated the suspension for one year of import duties on all Ukrainian products to Europe , which include; industrial products, fruits, vegetables and steel.
“Thank you to this extent, the EU will be able to significantly support the Ukrainian economy”, the Council stressed in a statement issued on the same day as three months after the beginning of the Russian military aggression in the former Soviet republic.
The validation of this measure by the European institution that represents the governments of the “Twenty Seven” comes just five days after the European Parliament gave it the green light in a plenary vote.
This trade liberalization was supported by 515 votes to favor, with 32 against and 11 abstentions, and will allow the complete suppression of the rights of i imports on the aforementioned products and also antidumping duties and safeguard measures on steel imports.
The proposal was presented by the European Commission last 27 April ye will enter into force the day after being published in the “Official Gazette” of the European Union , once it has received the green light from Parliament and the Council.

On the other hand, Ukraine is the fifteenth most important trading partner of the EU, with 1.2% of the total merchandise trade of the community bloc.
Brussels raised the aid as relief for “the difficult situation of Ukrainian producers and exporters, in the face of the Russian military invasion”.
Stressed that granting Ukraine access to the EU market without tariffs or quotas is an “unprecedented” step .
