Sisters Killed by Family After Rejecting Arranged Marriage in Pakistan

The sisters Uruj and Anisa Abbas, from 21 and 24 years respectively, residents of Terrassa, Barcelona, ​​traveled to their native country in order to spend a few days with some relatives. However, they did not count that their brothers were already waiting for them to force them to formalize the marriage with two of their cousins ​​with whom they had already agreed without their consent.

The purpose of the marriage was that the cousins ​​could obtain residency in Spain through the two young women, since their immigration status could facilitate the legal entry of their two husbands from Pakistan.

After rejecting this forced agreement, his Shehryar brothers and Asfandyar, her cousins ​​Atiq and Hasan and other relatives hurt and tortured them, until they died.

The mother of the young women tried to defend them, but was silenced and locked in one of the rooms of the house where they were taken, according to statements to local media by the Punjab Police.

The two young women had lived with their parents Azra Bibi and Ghulam Abbas, in Terrassa for years, both had a residence card and the mother had a Spanish passport, according to statements made by authorities to local media.

The women were already voluntarily engaged to two other Pakistani men based in Spain.

After this tragedy, the Punjabi police arrested six involved in the crime, while they continue to search for other relatives, including the uncle of the young women, the alleged perpetrator of the shots that ended their lives.
