In the Georgia primary, Republican Governor Brian Kemp will defeat Donald Trump-backed challenger former Sen. David Perdue, projects CNN, a blow to the efforts of the former president to punish Kemp for refusing to annul the results of the presidential elections of 2018.

Kemp will face Democrat Stacey Abrams, who ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary in Georgia, in a rematch of her run from 2018, which Abrams narrowly missed.

In Senate elections, representing Georgia, Georgia Republicans have voted for former football star Herschel Walker to face Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, according to CNN, in what is expected to be one of the most important races of the midterm elections of 2022, for a vacancy in the United States Senate.

In one of the most closely watched House primaries, CBS News projected that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene will win the Republican nomination in the conservative District 05 from Georgia, easily defeating several contenders.

And in the Georgia Democratic primary, two incumbents squared off in the new 7th district. CBS News projected that Rep. Lucy McBath, who was reapportioned out of Georgia’s 6th district, will defeat Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux.

In Alabama

Governor Kay Ivey will win the Republican primary in the Alabama gubernatorial race, according to projections by The Associated Press and CNN.

Ivey faces beat several major rivals. One of the best known is Lindy Blanchard, former United States Ambassador to Slovenia during the Trump administration.

County Clerk Dale Strong and former Huntsville School Superintendent, Casey Wardynski, advanced to a runoff in the Republican primary for the congressional seat given up by Rep. Mo Brooks in Alabama. The winner of the second round of 04 in June will face the Democratic candidate in the 5th. congressional district, which is reliably Republican, in November.

In Arkansas

Trump’s former press secretary, Sarah Sanders, will win the Republican nomination for governor of Arkansas, according to projections by The Associated Press.

Sanders headed into the primaries virtually assured of the nomination, and remains a heavy favorite in a general election in a state that has not elected a Democratic Governor since 2010. Nuclear engineer and ordained minister Chris Jones won the Democratic nomination in Tuesday’s primary.

In Texas

Texas voters cast ballots in the runoff election amid the news of a terrible shooting in an elementary school in that state where at least have died 14 children and 2 adults, in addition to the gunman, who can influence the decisions of the voters.

Texas Attorney General, Republican Ken Paxton, who is a close ally of former President Donald Trump, won Texas land commissioner in the primary Texas, George P. Bush, in the second round of elections on Tuesday.

With the 59 % of expected votes counted, Paxton had a lead of 34 points over Bush.

Some crucial runoffs are happening as well. In the District 05 from Texas, incumbent representative Henry Cuéllar, considered one of the most conservative and bipartisan representatives of the Democratic caucus, takes on Jessica Cisneros, who has been endorsed by Bernie Sanders. after Cuéllar failed to obtain 50% of the votes in the primaries on March 1. As of Tuesday night, less than 600 votes separated the two.
