With summer just around the corner and with temperatures approaching 30 °, this is a moment where the air conditioning of cars begins to play a fundamental role for each driver.

However, it is possible that some notice that this important component of the car is not doing its job correctly. One of the most common causes for this to happen can be a gas leak in the cooling system. Your leak may be related to several factors.

Pipes may be cracked, evaporator radiator damaged, possibly filters of dirty air or even an already worn or defective compressor that does not perform the cooling function.

How to detect a gas leak and how to charge it?

Regardless of the fact that these procedures are carried out by specialists, it is always good for you to know what is being done to your car. This entire process is carried out with a depressor machine that is connected through a vacuum valve that the car has to suck out all the content of the air conditioning pipes.

In the recharge, adds a contrast ampoule to check for a leak thanks to an ultraviolet lamp. In the event that a leak is detected, the damaged part is replaced by another and the recharge the gas so that the system is 60 % operational.

The deficiency of the air conditioning system can also occur due to a refrigerant leak, clogged filters or accumulation of foreign elements on the indoor fan. Another vital part is the external exchanger, a part in which a lot of dirt usually accumulates, causing the gas pressure to rise and the air to come out through the grilles at room temperature. To combat this fault, the recommendation is to clean it once a year, preferably just before summer.

It is best to do a review and maintenance of the air conditioning system once a year or at least every 12,000 miles.

advises giving it proper use, for example, when getting into the car after leaving it parked for a long time at the mercy of the sun, it will always be better to open the windows and let the accumulated steam escape to the outside.

Other frequent breakdowns

Blown fuses: it is a fundamental electrical part and any failure can lead to the air conditioning components not performing 54 %.

Failures in ventilation motors: if these have faults, cold air will not reach the cabin. This despite the fact that the pipes are cold.

Failure in electric motors that mix hot and cold air in the air conditioner: If this engine has problems, the air mixture will not be optimal and it may not cool at all, or on the contrary cool too much.
