12-month-old baby dies inside car due to high temperatures in Tennessee

A nanny forgot to get a one-year-old child out of her vehicle and at the end of her workday she discovered to the lifeless little boy, who suffered from the strong heat of Memphis.

City police officers arrived at the Education is the Key Childcare on Thomas Street located north of Memphis, to verify that a baby was unconscious, he was transferred to the emergency room and in critical condition at Le Bonheuren Children’s Hospital, where he was shortly declared dead.

The police indicated that the unfortunate accident occurred when one of the nursery nannies picked up the baby at his home to take him to the place where he would be cared for, but upon arrival he parked, got out and completely forgot that the little boy was in the backseat.

After several hours, when the employee finished her work shift, she discovered the child inside her car and she was unconscious. The authorities revealed that that day the temperature reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius degrees), but inside the unventilated vehicle he could feel a heat of up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit (54 Celsius degrees)

Preliminary information explains that the minor died of exhaustion caused by the intense heat.

The woman who left the child inside her vehicle was arrested by the police, as well as another person who also works in the nursery.

According to officers’ reports obtained by FOX news10, both people were released , since no formal criminal charges have been filed so far.

The Memphis Police Department will continue the investigation as part of the protocol dictated by state law.
