The gap that existed between the Ssangyong Korando and Ssangyong Rexton will now be covered with the imminent arrival of the new car from the Korean brand. It will be called “Torres”, it will be 100 % electric and although production has already begun in South Korea, it will arrive in Europe in the second half of 2023.

At the moment it is not confirmed if it will only reach one part of Europe or the entire old continent. It is most likely the second option.

In the first images you can see a design that bears a certain similarity to the Jeep, with a small grille and six blades instead of the seven of the Americans. At the rear there is a support very similar to the one used to place a spare tire, thus giving it a classic 4×4 touch.

The brand has made it clear that the name “Torres”, beyond seeming Hispanic, does not directly evoke Spain. SsangYong assures that it is inspired by the spectacular landscapes of the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, in southern Chile.

This place, chosen as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, has a landscape that includes mountains, glaciers, lakes and rivers, which, depending on the brand, makes it an ideal place to reflect the sense of adventure and freedom to explore that the car seeks to convey.

Although at the moment there are few details of this new model, it must be said that the Korean car manufacturer SsangYong is characterized by specializing in the creation of innovative SUV models.

With this launch, it tries to make its products stand out from other SUVs on the market, giving it a touch of originality for off-road activities, but without forgetting that they can be useful in urban areas.

Although this car is still missing for the market From now on, it will have to compete with great rivals such as the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or the new Volkswagen ID.5 and Skoda Enyaq.

Little by little we will add more details of this risky proposal of SsangYong with the “Towers”.
