Andrés Guardado was one of the interviewees on Hugo Sánchez’s show, where they touched on important topics such as the current situation of the selection of Mexico but the response of the ‘Little Prince’ surprised more than one.
And it is that the Betis midfielder did not mince words to assure that ‘El Tri’ is stagnant footballingly and also compared the level of the national team in relation to its peers on the American continent.
“What I have experienced is that at that time we were in third place on the continent and I think all the teams in South America, Panama, the United States, They’ve all grown up and I think we haven’t. After we ran out of participation in Conmebol, we are stagnant”, confessed Guardado.
Guardado also believed that in Mexico the custom of exalting foreigners over Mexicans should be eradicated, because he considers that they give more value to those who are outside.
“There are a lot of malinchismo in Mexico and I’m not saying that with me, but I do feel that they give me more value abroad than in Mexico. For example, Alejandro (Irarragorri) comes out to say that I am not in the plans and then the sports director of Betis comes out and says that we are delighted with Andrés and we want him to retire here and he is still retired because he contributes a lot to the team. The heart takes you, but in the end you have to be where you feel valued”.
