Carlos Vela talks about his continuity in MLS: “If it's in my hands, of course I'll continue in LAFC”

Carlos Vela, who scored LAFC’s goal this Wednesday in their 1-2 loss to Austin, He assured that the conversations for his renewal are on the right track and showed his willingness to reach an agreement with the Los Angeles team.

“If it’s up to me, of course I’ll continue at LAFC. I will help the team win a trophy”, said the Mexican before the media, assuring that the negotiations are going “a little better”.

In one of his few appearances before the press in recent times, the striker stressed that “until you sign (the contract) you don’t have something for sure”, but pointed out that both the LAFC and he are “making efforts to make this work”.

“I am delighted to play in Los Angeles, in this stadium and with these fans. Enjoying this team and being able to give this team a title is something that motivates me a lot. And I think the club too”, he developed.

“ We’re walking to the same side, both of us doing our best to make this work. When both parties really want something to happen, I think it can. We are happy where we are, but to tell you the truth, I focus more on enjoying each game”, he assured.

Vela arrived in 2018 at LAFC as the great star of this ambitious project of football that in a few years has become one of the leading clubs in the MLS.

However, the rumors surrounding its renewal with LAFC or his departure from the team have been a constant in recent months in Los Angeles since his current contract expires on 30 of June.

Strictly sporting, Vela scored his first goal from a penalty this Wednesday after seven games without scoring. In total he has scored five so many this season.

With this goal, the number 62 of his career in the United States, Vela became the third r fastest player in MLS history (100 games) to reach 100 goals combined those he put in with those he assisted for the goal (accumulates 11 assists in his career in this league).

LAFC has lost two games in a row and, after tonight’s loss, gave up the leadership of the West to Austin (both with 23 points).

In this sense, Vela believed that this is “a good opportunity” for the LAFC to measure its reaction capacity and “demonstrate the character and the personality of the team.
