With the arrival on the market of high-performance electric vehicles such as the Tesla Model S Plaid, it is now becoming commonplace to see acceleration figures that were unimaginable until a few years ago. Although at the moment it seems impossible for a car to be able to go from 0 miles per hour to 60 in less than two seconds, the Automotive News Europe medium announced that Bentley raises break records for acceleration.

The CEO of Bentley, Adrian Hallmark, confirmed a few days ago that the first car 100 Electric % of the brand will arrive for 2025 and could have twice the horsepower of the one that currently leads in that line, such as the Bentley Continental GT Speed.

He w-12 twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter from that huge car produces 659 horsepower and 900 foot-pounds of torque, which suggests that up to 1,400 CV could be on the scene for Bentley’s new “toy”.

If we have 659 CV now with the GT Speed, we will have double with the electric. But from the point of view of 0 to 60 mph, there are diminishing returns. The problem is that it is uncomfortable. And then it gets suffocating

Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Bentley

For those who are concerned about acceleration force that the car has just by stepping on the accelerator, Hallmark ensures that from the technological equipment there will be the possibility of regulating it in order to be able to circulate more accordingly in normal situations. It can be configured to go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.5 seconds or in 2.7 seconds.

Still, Bentley believes this kind of performance won’t define the brand alone. There will be another series of improvements that will make this car a great attraction in the market.

The power to fulfill the promise of going from 0 a 60 mph, I would put this Bentley model on top of the world. It must be taken into account that this position is currently occupied by Ricmac with 1.85 seconds. Tesla with his Model S Plaid that is capable of reaching that speed in 1.9 seconds.

Like the vast majority of European car manufacturers, Bentley plans to become a carbon neutral company by the year 2030. For this, it has to expand as a manufacturer of electric cars and has allocated more than 3 billion euros to invest in this technology.
