Three people were injured, one seriously, and a dog was killed after an oncoming Prius car collided head-on with a van this Tuesday night in the city of Duarte.
The mishap, which was captured on a surveillance camera, occurred at approximately 9:00: 21 pm near Duarte Azusa Animal Hospital, on the block 2700 of Huntington Drive, near Las Lomas Road.
The recording showed that a red Prius appeared to be traveling the wrong way and hit an Audi pickup head-on. Due to the force of the impact, the Prius hit the structure of a building located next to the animal hospital.
A person traveling in the car that crashed into the building was trapped and had to be freed by elements of the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD). She was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Due to the accident, two other people were injured. His injuries were described as non-fatal, according to reports from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
LACoFD had communication with animal control services regarding a dog that was found dead.
The authorities said that the dog did not belong to the hospital and was possibly in one of the vehicles involved in the incident.
Due to the force of the impact, the two vehicles were seriously damaged.
The causes of the accident are still under investigation.
