Chicago Fire’s Swiss midfielder, Xherdan Shaqiri, became the highest paid footballer in MLS, surpassing Mexican Javier Hernández and breaking Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s record as the best paid so far.

Shaqiri, who came to the American team this season from Lyon, has a salary of 7.3 million dollars, in addition to a total compensation that reaches 8.1 million dollars as announced by the MLS Players Association.

In this way, the Swiss will not only become the highest paid footballer of the season, but will also hold the record for the highest paid in the league, since the Swede, Zlatan Ibrahimovc, he had the salary mark of receiving 7.2 million dollars with the LA Galaxy.

As Shaqiri is the new highest paid in MLS, the Mexican Javier Hernández stood in second place with a salary of 6 million dollars, while the Argentine and World runner-up, Gonzalo Higuaín, is in third place with a salary of 5.1 million dollars that he receives from Inter Miami.

For his part, the Mexican Carlos Vela is also in the top 10, specifically in the seventh position with a salary of 2.2 million dollars and a total compensation of 4 million dollars.
