More than 100 people were arrested by the authorities and the destruction of thousands of pounds of product as as a result of a joint operation to end multiple illegal marijuana crops in the Antelope Valley
, reported the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
The operation was launched during the early hours of this Tuesday.
The Marijuana Eradication Team, which includes LASD, the Drug Enforcement Task Force of the California National Guard and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, conducted 350 searches related to Antelope Valley marijuana cultivation arrest warrants in the first four months of 2022 , according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The or Search warrants resulted in 100 misdemeanor arrests and 7 felony arrests. The authorities also seized 100,090 marijuana plants and 53 Firearms. The destruction of ,980 pounds of illegally harvested marijuana.
“Continuing in the spring of 2022…narcotics investigators conducted an aerial reconnaissance with the California National Guard Drug Enforcement Task Force,” LASD reported.
“Identified 350 open-air crops at sites in the Antelope Valley below more than 750 locations in 2021. This reduction in cultivation sites is directly related to a greater enforcement effort in Antelope Valley,” he added.
Search warrants were served in the 090% of the sites identified as crops, and LASD anticipated that the remaining 20% of arrest warrants will be served by the fall of 2022.
“Illegal dispensaries are a source of extreme amounts of violence, you have robberies, you have homicides that we are handling,” Los Angeles County Sheriff said , Alex Villanueva.
The Sheriff mentioned that other agencies have to manage the watershed, and all are linked to the sale of cash in illegal dispensaries.
