Ten months after they tied in San Antonio, American Jermell Charlo and Argentine Brian Castaño met again in a ring, this time in Los Angeles. The result was another great battle and a victory that inscribes the Charlo twin in world boxing history.

Jermell Charlo knocked out in the tenth round Castaño, from whom he took the undefeated, to become the first fighter in history to own the four super welterweight belts as undisputed monarch . Charlo, soon to be 19 years old, defended his WBC, WBA and IBF belts . On Saturday at the Dignity Health Sports Park tennis stadium in Carson, attended by 7 194 spectators, he added the title of the WBO that Castaño held.

A brutal left hook when the fighters were melee in the final minute of the round 10 was the one who hurt and knocked down the South American fighter from 32 year old. Although he managed to get to his feet, he was reeling and only seconds later he was sent to the canvas for good with a precise combination from his rival.

Charlo, whose twin brother Jermall Charlo is the WBC middleweight champion, improved to a record of 35-1-1 and 19 knockouts while joining six other fighters who won all four belts in a division as undisputed champions, the last of them being Saúl Álvarez in super middleweight last year.

It was a real war in which practically every round had a lot of action and good shots from both fighters. The styles fit perfectly.

Brian Castaño hit more, but he said he was caught

According to CompuBox statistics, the Argentinian connected more than Charlo: 194 of 610 against 559, including 175 power shots by 142 of his opponent.

But unfortunately for Castaño, who now has a mark of 17-1-2, he was careless in that round 10.

“That caught me”, he said when asked about what made the difference in the lawsuit.

It is worth mentioning that Castaño arrived late at the venue of the fight and forced Showtime, which broadcast the fight, to have to report the delay to the public. At least once he walked into the ring, “El Boxi” proved to be a great gladiator that Los Angeles fans appreciated.

Castaño, with class, congratulated the champion and said that the offensive statements of both prior to the fight were in the past: “Upstairs we are two warriors and we want to have our money to feed our families.”

And he added: “It was an incredible fight, from power to power, he really was for either of them… He was lucky enough to connect the hand and win by knockout.”

“This is incredible. I did it all over the United States,” Charlo said when interviewed in the ring. “Once I saw him collapse in front of me, I was sure he was going to get up because it was the first fall, but I knew it was over.”
