Gilberto Ramírez ran over Dominic Boesel this weekend and thus became the mandatory challenger for the WBA title of the light heavyweight owned by Dmitry Bivol, who recently defeated Canelo Álvarez. Therefore, the “Lefty” will seek at all costs that this fight takes place to defeat the Russian and avenge his compatriot.
Although the victory of the Aztec boxer over the German does not guarantee the fight for the championship, it does expand his possibilities and Ramírez will not take his finger off the line, because it is a fight that he has been looking for for a long time, in fact, the plan in the 204, was for him to face Bivol, but Canelo’s promotion changed the plans.
“Everyone knows: I want Bivol. I’m coming for you The next time he signs the contract because I’m going for that belt that is mine. Everyone knows that I deserve that fight and that I will be victorious”, said Gilberto in an interview at the end of the fight against Boesel, who won by technical knockout in the fourth round.

“As a fan, it’s sad because I was supporting Canelo to win. But as a fighter, he was good for me. When I beat Bivol, I will have the belt and all the attention. I will be able to avenge this defeat for all of Mexico. I think the fight can take place in September in Las Vegas”, declared the “Zurdo” for Boxing Scene days before his fight against Boesel.
It remains to be seen if his prediction comes true, since Dmitry Bivol has stated that he has other plans, such as winning the WBC, WBO and IBF champions of the category to become a unified monarch, but we’ll see what happens.
In case these boxers collide, Ramírez said he felt capable of defeating him: “Because I am taller, more handsome and stronger, that is why I am going to defeat him”, he jokingly told the DAZN cameras.
