A woman took her own life with a bullet after killing her two children in a fit of despair because she was in the custody suit against her ex-husband.
The lifeless bodies of Ashley Palmer, Kayleana and Xavier were found in their Gresham home where police noticed bullet wounds. When they notified the ex-husband and father of the children of the unfortunate loss, Jenavie Palmer confessed that they were in the legal process of custody of the children.
“We were in the middle of the trial and the children came and went from our homes,” Jenavie told The Oregonian newspaper.
One night before the murder and suicide, Ashley sent Jenavie a link that redirected him to a YouTube video titled: “madr and and children murder-suicides 2022”, the father of the minors immediately contacted 911 to explain what happened, but a technical problem did not allow them to conclude with the call for help.
The next morning , the officers went to Ashley’s house and that’s where they made the discovery. The policemen commented that had recorded a call from the mother asking them to make a welfare check the next day .
“Ultimately, what we discovered when we listened to the neighbors, was that one of the people in the building heard the three fatal shots. This happened a few 14 minutes before the first call came from the family ” Officer Adam Baker told KGW.
Jenavie last saw her children Kayleana, 6, and Xavier, 8, at the end of last week. The Oregonian newspaper discovered that the father had filed for custody last April .
The investigation detailed that in the court records it appeared that Ashley said in court that the children would be in danger if Jenavie got partial custody.
A Multnomah County judge approved the endangerment order immediately in July of 2021, but dismissed it on the grounds that minors were not in danger and denied a subsequent request on 22 February 2022.
