Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez is not to blame that the German Dominic Boesel has turned out to be a real “lump”. The undefeated Mexican fighter did his job on Saturday by knocking him out in the fourth round to become the mandatory challenger against Russian Dmitry Bivol
, who last week retained his crown against Saúl Álvarez.
“Zurdo” Ramírez dominated Boesel from the first assault, who did not show absolutely nothing, not even gallantry, during the time that the lawsuit lasted in the Ontario, Los Angeles area. The Sinaloan finished it at 1: 33 minutes of round 4, when the referee stopped the actions.
“I feel excellent, great for my performance, and as I said, I was going to give a show to all the people here in Los Angeles”, said Ramírez when being interviewed in the ring after improving to a record from 44-0 (17 KOs). “I worked very hard for this, to get here, to this position and nobody is going to take it away from me.”
Ramírez humored the night when he was asked how come he looks stronger at 175 pounds than he does at 168.
“Because I eat more tacos, more meat and more tortillas, and well I feel good, I feel that it is my natural weight”, said the man of 17 years old.
But the real question for Ramírez is what he hopes to do next in his career.
“Everyone knows: I love Bivol”, replied Ramírez. “I’m coming for you. Next time sign the contract because I’m going for that belt that is mine. Everyone knows that I deserve that fight and that I will be victorious”.
And when the DAZN reporter, who broadcast the fight for the United States, he asked Ramírez why he thinks he will have a better result than Canelo Álvarez against Dmitry Bivol, he said: “Because I am taller, more handsome and stronger, that is why I am going to defeat him”.
It remains to be seen if that fight takes place because Bivol has expressed other interests, and it also remains to be seen if the Mexican can fulfill his statement, but something that what you can anticipate from tonight is that unlike Canelo, Ramirez will be a much bigger body to counter for Bivol. After giving the limit of 175 pounds on Friday, this Saturday the Sinaloan registered 204 pounds.
And Ramírez looking so great, the German Boesel (32-3) seemed intimidated even before the opening bell. In fact, in the first moments of the fight, Boesel turned around complaining of an alleged low blow that was not visible. The referee saved him by telling him to keep fighting and Ramírez, chivalrously, did not go after him after the childish carelessness.
Ramírez landed several uppercuts in the second round and after the indication received in his corner throwing to the body, he did so in round 3, hurting Boesel. It was a matter of time until the end of the fight and this one came a round later with a left and right uppercut combination to the body on a fighter who didn’t deserve to be in the ring.
