Meta, the social media and technology conglomerate, opened its first physical retail store in Burlingame, California, in order to showcase the latest advancements and augmented reality products from the metaverse to its customers.
The store, which opened its doors to the public on Monday, May 9, offers some new products, such as Ray-Ban Stories augmented reality glasses and sunglasses, which allows the user to take photos, record videos, answer calls or even play music or podcast broadcasts.
The intention of the glasses, at first glance, is that the user can capture everything that happens around without needing to take out the cell phone. For this, the glasses have two five-megapixel cameras on their sides, microphones and speakers.
The establishment, of approximately 144 square meters, also offers customers other products, such as the Quest 2 virtual reality headset and Meta Portal. Among the operation of some of the helmets, compatibility with online tools and services stands out, as well as some applications. Includes high resolution image quality.
For its part, Project Cambria, an improved version of Quest 2, will be ready before 2024. The descriptions for this latest device is “a laptop for the face” with a focus on professional use. In addition, it will use Meta’s virtual reality operating system, based on Android.
Through a showroom, users can try the products that the store has available. It also allows them to explore applications from the meta universe, such as Beat Saber.
The 27 April Meta reported 1,1200 million daily users during the first quarter del 2022, beating analyst forecasts of 1,940 million users in the same period. Stocks soared 15% on that day.
According to Meta, Facebook’s parent company, the store is part of its project to showcase the concept of the “metaverse” to consumers. .
