Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Border Patrol Union President Brandon Judd denounced today Thursday that the Administration of President Joe Biden supplies food formula for babies to undocumented immigrants in the midst of a national shortage of the product.

“Children are our most vulnerable and valuable Texans and deserve to be put first. Yet President Biden has ignored parents across America facing the nightmare of a national baby formula shortage,” Abbott and Judd said in a joint statement released by the Republican governor’s office.

They added that “while mothers and fathers look at empty store shelves, the Biden Administration is happy to provide baby formula to illegal immigrants crossing our southern border.”

“This is yet another reckless and insensitive priority of the Biden Administration when it comes to securing our border and protecting Americans. Our children deserve a president who puts their needs and survival first, not one who gives critical supplies to illegal immigrants before the people he was sworn to serve.” )

Shameful.

The statement was issued on the same day that President Biden spoke with some of the nation’s leading manufacturers of powdered infant formula, to whom he pressured to increase their production, and announced that he will import larger quantities of this product due to the unprecedented shortage in his country.

The Democratic president spoke with the main directors companies Mead Johnson and Gerber, which produce infant formula, and with the Walmart and Target retail chains, the White House reported.

In recent weeks, finding powdered milk for babies has been a challenge for parents in different states of the country

, an issue that has become a throwing weapon between Republicans and Democrats and that has led the federal government to react.

The shortage has been caused by the global supply problems caused by the pandemic and the difficulties in the production plant that the firm Abbott, the main manufacturer of infant milk in the US, has in Sturgis (Michigan).
