An era for video game fans will end this year when the famous FIFA title ends its contract
with the production company Electronic Arts Sports (EA Sports).
This means that the video game as it is known today will no longer exist. There will no longer be a FIFA 2023 and it will not be expected to know which world soccer star will appear on its cover.
However, the players will not stop having options, because along with the announcement of the termination of the contract with EA Sports, FIFA confirmed that it is looking for new partners
to produce the traditional title, only under a new production company.
What happened between FIFA and EA Sports
The problem between the world soccer body and the production company was related to a lack of agreement to renew the license, which expires at the end of this year.
FIFA was seeking to expand the possibility for “new studios and third-party production companies” to use its brand to launch new products, according to a report by CBS News.
“FIFA intends to work with a variety of partners instead of blocking all gaming and esports rights exclusively with one long-term publisher,” FIFA said in a statement.
By failing to reach an agreement, EA Sports reported that the FIFA version 2022 will be the last one and that will present a new game which EA Sports FC will call, with which it will seek to replace its traditional FIFA.
Its launch is programmed for 2022, as was the case every year with the traditional FIFA.

In a statement, the CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson, announced that the company is working on the creation of this new video game franchise.
“We have an incredible opportunity to put EA Sports FC at the heart of the sport and bring even more innovative and authentic experiences to football’s growing audience”, he considered.
This means that the next EA Sports FC will have the licenses of the international leagues most followed by soccer fans.
There are the protagonists of La Liga, the Bundesliga and others in which the most followed teams and stars around the world play.
“Everything you love about our games will be part of EA Sports FC – the same great experiences, modes, leagues, t tournaments, clubs and athletes will be there,” said Cam Weber, executive vice president of EA Sports and Racing.
