Javier Aguirre is one of the most recognized Mexican strategists in European football. The “Vasco” came from a resounding failure with the Rayados de Monterrey, but still arrived in Spain under the label of the “savior” of Mallorca. There are only three days left until the end of the season in LaLiga and so far the Aztec coach has not fulfilled the objective.

The “Vasco” arrived at Mallorca with a clear goal: save the club from relegation. An example of this is in his contract, since he only signed a bond for three months, that is, June of this year ends the Mexican’s contract with the club.

Nevertheless, after a hopeful victory against Atlético de Madrid, the club once again went down the path of defeat. In the last match, Mallorca lost 2-6 at home at the hands of a modest Granada that is also fighting not to be relegated.

In general terms, Javier Aguirre has directed six games with the team. In that number of matches, the strategist has only been able to obtain two wins and four setbacks . Of the eighteen points that he has disputed, he has only been able to keep six.

These results place Mallorca in the position 18 from the table with 32 units (2 points behind Granada and 3 behind Cádiz). It is worth remembering that in the Spanish league the last three teams are relegated. Under these circumstances, Javier Aguirre’s team occupies the last place that penalizes returns with the second division.
