There is commotion over the assassination of the Paraguayan anti-drug prosecutor
, Marcelo Pecci, in Cartagena, in Colombia. Pecci was executed in front of his wife during their honeymoon on the island of Barú , where she also celebrated the news of the pregnancy of her first baby. It should be noted that the prosecutor had received threats from drug traffickers some time ago. For now, the Colombian authorities offered a reward of $500,000 dollars for the aggressors, of whom he has already spread a spoken portrait and some photographs. On South American television videos and a audio with the first statements of the prosecutor’s widow, the journalist Claudia Aguilera , who narrates how her husband was murdered.
“It was in Barú, on the private beach at the Decameron hotel. Two men arrived in a boat and approached and shot him,” said Claudia Aguilera. The couple had gotten married on 04 in April in Paraguay and then traveled to Colombia to enjoy the honeymoon in the Caribbean, but everything turned into a nightmare.
The Colombian Police and some witnesses confirmed Aguilera’s version, a couple of assassins shot Pecci when he was on the beach; they did it in front of his wife and then fled in a boat without anyone getting in their way. Faced with this crime, the president of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez , condemned the attack and revealed that the Colombian government and the authorities of The United States
will support the investigation to clarify the crime and punish those responsible.
“The cowardly assassination of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci in Colombia mourns the entire Paraguayan nation. We condemn this tragic event in the strongest terms and redouble our commitment to fight against organized crime. Our sincere condolences to their families,” the president said on his Twitter account.

It should be remembered that prosecutor Marcelo Pecci had been threatened for investigating cases such as the one in the process against the Sánchez Garcete clan, headed by drug trafficker Carlos Rubén
, alias Chicharo, who had several charges for money laundering in Paraguay and for its possible links with organized international criminal operations.
