AMLO says that Latin America will know how to recognize Joe Biden if the US invites everyone to the Summit of the Americas

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, affirmed that Latin American countries will know how to recognize Joe Biden if the US president decides to invite all the countries of the continent to the next Summit of the Americas to be held in June in California.

“Tell President Biden, that just as he is going to have that opposition (Republicans and Cuban exiles), too if you make a decision to invite all the peoples, all the peoples of Latin America will know how to recognize it because a new stage is opening, we are inaugurating a new stage for dialogue, for understanding, for resolve our differences by respecting each other and also to unite as the European economic community, as the European Union, and strengthen ourselves as a region, that is a great legacy for the new generations”, he said.

The chief of the Mexican executive pointed out that the refusal of the United States to invite all the countries of the Americas, as is the ca so from Cuba, Nicaragua or Venezuela, it is due to the fact that in US territory there are Cuban exiles who have a lot of influence in political parties and “impose” their policies.

He also attributed this pressure to the mid-term elections that will be held in the United States to renew governors and the House of Representatives next November.

“ I have a lot of respect for President Biden, he is a humane people, I understand his circumstance because of these thugs to whom I referred, who are there pressing, but it is time for changes ”, he affirmed.

From the National Palace, the Mexican president insisted on inviting all the countries of America to the Summit to finalize the economic integration of the continent, similar to that of the European Economic Community .

“What we are looking for is that an agreement be reached so that we all participate, all of America, and if there are differences, that expose themselves, let there be dialogue, or why are we not going to talk to each other, or why are we going to exclude each other?”, he expressed.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated that there are other Latin American leaders , like him, who “are not happy” with the Summit of the Americas due to the exclusion of countries.

“Other presidents had already spoken to me, already They had asked me, that they are not happy. For example, the one from Bolivia (Luis Arce) had already told me that he did not consider that appropriate, that it was disrespectful”, he commented.

The president of Tabasco assured that in his trip last week to Central America, in which he visited Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize and Cuba, he addressed the subject of the Summit with their counterparts.

“Now that I went on the tour as well, many asked me for my opinion and I expressed the same, that we had to do a convincing work”, he said.

It was this Tuesday 10 in May that Andrés Manuel López Obrador warned that he would not attend the Summit of the Americas and would only send Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard if the United States refuses to invite all Latin American countries to this Summit to be held on June 8 in California, United States.

“We are going to continue with the same, we are going to continue convincing, persuading, that no one is excluded, let everyone participate. I don’t know how I expressed it here verbatim, but they linked it to Cuba, to Venezuela and to Nicaragua,” said López Obrador.
