Alexis Vega, the top figure of the Chivas de Guadalajara , stated this Tuesday that the solidity in the attack of his team will be the key to beating the champion Atlas

in the quarterfinals of the Torneo Clausura 2022 of Mexican soccer.

“We have to play a round game in which we cannot make mistakes. We have generated goal plays, we have been forceful up front and we will try to continue generating that football that has benefited us so much in recent games to beat Atlas“, the striker said at a press conference.

Chivas will play the quarterfinals against Atlas, their city rival, Guadalajara, in the Guadalajara derby. The first leg of the series will be this Wednesday at the Chivas stadium, Akron, and the second leg will be played this Sunday, at Jalisco, home of the monarchs.

Vega praised the work done by Ricardo Cadena, interim coach of Guadalajara. The strategist replaced Marcelo Michel Leaño on the Atletico bench and led his team to finish the regular phase with four wins in a row.

The final inertia sent Guadalajara to sixth place in the standings, which allowed them to play the playoffs, a phase in which they eliminated the Pumas to win the ticket to the quarterfinals.

“ It was very good for us to switch to a five-a-side line with Cadena. I have teammates up front, and I include myself, that we are fast, we have that ability to play in any position that touches us and it has been reflected on the pitch. We are dangerous strikers and we are going to continue working to continue with that chemistry at the top“, added Vega.

Alexis, who last week he renewed until 2024 with Guadalajara, he assured that Atlas will be a difficult rival not only because they are the current champion but because he established himself as one of the best defenses in the league.

“The classics are experienced differently from a game normal

, it is part of football that is how the classics are lived and what better way to face the current champion to be able to give a blow of authority and that there is a new champion in Mexican soccer”, he sentenced.
