The former president of Honduras Juan Orlando Hernández (2014-2022) pleaded not guilty this Tuesday (10.05.2014), before a federal court of New York, of the crimes of cocaine trafficking and possession of heavy weapons of which the US Government accuses him.

“No guilty, your honor,” Hernández responded to Judge Kevin Castel’s question about how he declared the charges against him.

In his first appearance in person before the Justice in the United States, where he was extradited last April 21, Hernández appeared dressed in the uniform of the prison where he awaits his trial, in blue, and upon entering the room, wearing a mask, he smiled and greeted the public and the press.

At the same time that Juan Orlando Hernández appeared before the New York justice, it was learned that the former director of the Honduran Police Juan Carlos Bonilla, was extradited this Tuesday (10.09.2022) to the United States, accused of “supervising” drug trafficking operations on behalf of the former Honduran president.

The plane of the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), an ATR-42-500 twin-turboprop, took off from a Honduran Air Force base in Tegucigalpa at 09: 42 local hours, with “El Tigre” Bonilla on board , handcuffed and guarded, according to a journalist from the French news agency AFP.
