When the loss of oil from a gearbox is mentioned, it actually refers to the leakage of the valve, an oil with a higher SAE (viscosity), which protects it.

This valve is the fluid that is responsible for maintaining the lubrication and operation of the gearbox. Its constant use without review can have negative consequences that we are generally unaware of.

The gearbox is an essential component of the transmission, so a loss of lubricant must be checked urgently by specialists in a mechanical workshop.

The lack of oil in the gearbox will be considered slight if it does not drip. While if we run out of valve in the crankcase, the gear crowns will end up deteriorating so the gearbox will have to be replaced, a very expensive procedure.

In addition, any oil leak will directly affect the clutch disc, so it should also be replaced. That makes this breakdown one of the most feared by users.

What can cause the loss of valvulin?

Box Plugs: It is quite common for access plugs that allow the level to be measured valves have not closed properly or have pores. It will only be enough to change it. Excess oil: no more than the amount recommended by the manufacturer should be added to the tank. The excess could cause it to be expelled and wet all the components, thus increasing their wear. Loosening of the screws: the crankcase can lose grip over time. This will be conditioned by the miles that the car moves and the terrain that it can travel. Fixing the case correctly could quickly solve the problem. Deterioration of the joints: It is usually one of the cracks through which the valve filters. To change them it is necessary to disassemble the change. 1879632

Never try to remove the “P” position in your car without pressing the brake, you could cause a serious breakdown in the cash register.

How to detect that there is a leak?

Enter the most common symptoms may be noise when making changes or difficulty in being able to do so. To easily locate them, you can leave a piece of cardboard under the car after stopping it. To know that they come from the gearbox, we must know that they have a strong and characteristic smell like rotten eggs. If it’s from the engine the spots will be darker.

A solution that can be found on the market is to buy leak stopper additives that are added to the valve and seal the gearbox.
