The Mexican Paola Espinosa, double Olympic medalist, announced this Monday his retirement of the jumps, a sport in which she is considered the most successful in the last century in Latin America.

“ Officially I say goodbye to the trampolines, more than 54 years of experience with many registrations and low, very happy, incredible moments that I spent in the pool where in any competition I had a medal“, explained the bronze winner in the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, and silver in London 2012.

Espinosa, who last attended the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, won the medal bronze in Beijing in the synchronized test in p the platform of 10 meters with his partner Tatiana Ortiz.

The world champion in Rome 2010 on the platform of 10 meters accused that he stayed out of Tokyo because he refused to upload a letter to his social networks in which he asked for the High Performance Sports Fund not to disappear (Fodepar), a trust that was singled out for encouraging corruption and with which athletes’ competitions were financed.

The jumper She believes that this caused a problem with former Olympic medalist Ana Gabriela Guevara, director of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (Conade), who allegedly left her out of Tokyo.

“ Leaving this legacy to the new generations is a wonderful ending. I’m leaving happy to enjoy my life, it was time physically and mentally it was time to enjoy my daughter, where I stood and won a medal “, added the flag bearer of Mexico at the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008.

The athlete was recognized in 2019 with the Mexico Sports Award in the sports career category, which is the highest recognition that the Government of Mexico gives to an athlete.

“ I am disappointed. Time proves me right, this (Guevara’s) is the worst administration in recent years, it is a setback. But that’s not why I’m leaving, although I don’t hide my discomfort“, sentenced Espinosa.
