Russian troops have resumed the assault on the Azostal steel plant in the port city of Mariupol, after a UN convoy will leave the Donetsk region, Ukrainian sources reported.
“As expected, after the departure of the UN convoy from the Donetsk region, the occupiers began to storm Azovstal. In particular, they tried to destroy the bridge, which was the gate for evacuation. Without success, “said Petro Andryushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, on Telegram, in a message collected by the Ukrinform agency.
Meanwhile, Svyatoslav Palamar (“Kalina”), his commander of the Azov Regiment, which defends the steel facility, told Canal 24 that the situation is critical for the wounded soldiers due to lack of medicine.

“The situation is difficult, critical. There are not enough medicines. We no longer have surgical instruments. There is no option to provide qualified medical attention”, he underlined.
He added that he was not going to say a number of deaths, but assured that it is about hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers.
“The wounded are some 600 persons. But this figure increases every day, as does the number of dead. We don’t even know exactly how many bodies of soldiers we haven’t been able to remove from the rubble,” he said.
He added that the Russian side also “has to pick up its dead soldiers”.
“For this, a ceasefire is necessary and both parties agree on the collection of the bodies of the dead. Now it’s hot outside. The bodies begin to decompose and poison everything”, he said.
At the same time, he did not rule out that after all civilians were evacuated from Azovstal, Russian attacks could intensify.
Last night, the defenders counted more than 34 Departures of planes that dropped bombs.
