Straight out of a movie: Venezuelan jockey signs up at the last minute against the odds and wins the prestigious 2022 Kentucky Derby

The Venezuelan rider Sonny León gave the surprise on Saturday by winning with the horse Rich Strike the 80 edition of the Kentucky Derby.

Rick Strike slipped in between the participants last hour and did not appear among the favorites to win this prestigious horse race (60-1 in the predictions), but ended up taking the win ahead of Epicenter and Zandon, two who did They appeared among the top candidates for victory.

This was Sonny León and trainer Eric’s first Kentucky Derby appearance. Reed.

The Kentucky Derby experienced a very special day since, due to the pandemic of the coronavirus, this was its first edition with full capacity since 2019.
