To participate in one of the most successful Mexican films “Nosotros los nobles”, Luis Gerardo Méndez had to do an interesting preparation, living with “mirreyes” to obtain the character of Javi Noble.

As the actor told in an interview on Juanpa Zurita’s podcast, Gaz Alazraki, director of the film, did not think that Méndez could play Javi: “ He told me: ‘ I want you to do Cha’, the hipster, and I read the script and said, ‘No, man. The character is Javi, the character I want to do is Javi Noble’, and he told me no because Javi must have been chubby, a chubby mirrey”.

However, the actor did not stay with this and asked him to do the casting for both characters. Méndez took advantage of the fact that Alazraki said yes and decided to investigate as much as possible to make his best representation of Javi and lived for a while with “mirreyres”.

“I put all my heart and soul to Javi, I dressed up asshole, I went to do scouting for Mirreyes, to suck with them to see how they talked, how they dressed and how they treat the service people that seems terrible to me. I prepared that audition probably like I’ve never prepared any other and I earned it. Gary told me: ‘No mam…, if you’re Javi Noble’”, said the actor.

Additionally, he assured in the interview that “I think there is no character more opposed to me in the world that Javi Noble, the people who know me know it”, so this interpretation left him a bit “marked”, but remember that his opinion of “We the nobles” as a movie that felt super different and made him laugh a lot.

“The point is that when I read the script, I had rarely laughed So much (…), I knew it was a great movie, when Karla Souza, Juan Pablo and I were together, the way we improvised and we saw that the whole set was dying of laughter, we knew that this movie was different”, commented.
