A Hispanic man, owner of a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, has had to sleep in his business for almost a week after being robbed of cash and forced to operate without a front door.
Pedro Mojarro, owner of D-Town Burger Bar, has found it necessary to spend the night in the premises to protect the assets he owns in his business.

“A guy came in in the middle of the night and broke down the door. He broke the door, went in and stole the cash register,” Mojarro said.
The D-Town Burger Bar was robbed within seconds moments after midnight on May 2.
Mojarro told him to the Los Angeles Police Department that had $1 in the register,500 dollars in cash.
The owner The restaurant said that the glass front door will cost thousands of dollars to replace.
“The first day, I covered it with wood and went home; two hours later, a guy tried to break in,” Mojarro said.
Due to the incident, Mojarro has had to spend his nights at the restaurant at waiting to be able to replace the front glass door.
“Should we stay here or do I pay someone else to stay overnight, we cover with that small piece of wood over there and we stayed here all night”, Mojarro mentioned.
Owners of neighboring businesses mentioned that Assaults against property are so rampant that sometimes they do not report to the police.
The merchants said that many stores remain closed because robberies occur almost every day.
Mojarro stated that, normally, he keeps the day’s earnings in a safe deposit box , but the robbery happened after they closed on Sunday, which is their only or rest day of the week.
“It’s also frustrating, you know, because we work for something just so people can come and take it always free”, said the owner of D-Town Burger Bar.
