Former Torrance Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Possession of Child Abuse-Related Material

A former Torrance police officer was arrested Friday noon for alleged possession related to child sexual abuse, informed the authorities.

Evan Robert Dahl, of 23 years, was released a few 4 hours and 30 minutes after his arrest, but must appear on June 3 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Dahl was arrested at : am at the Torrance Police Station on suspicion of having possession of felony material after an investigation by the Department of Los Angeles Police (LAPD).

“The city of Torrance and its police department are aware of the troubling allegations that led to the arrest of Evan Dahl,” said Sergeant Mark Ponegalek of the Torrance Police Department.

“Evan Dahl no longer works for the Torrance Police Department,” Ponegalek added.

In a statement, Torrance authorities reported that the head of the department, Jay Hart, is committed gone with transparency and accountability.

In March, the working group of Los Angeles Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children became aware that illegal material had been uploaded to a social media platform from an unknown address in Torrance, the LAPD reported.

With this information, the LAPD said investigators They served search warrants at several places in the city, including Dahl’s residence, where some evidence was seized.

“We have cooperated and will continue to cooperate with the LAPD investigation. Because this matter involves an ongoing criminal investigation, we must refer any additional questions to the LAPD,” Ponegalek said.
