The 30 April, the same cartel murdered a policewoman and wounded another member of the Tamaulipas security forces. In both cases, the Mexican authorities seized armored trucks, long arms and tactical equipment; however, there were no arrests, the gunmen managed to escape.
The policewoman murdered by the gunmen, her name was Raquel Ocaña, had 21 years old, and he was barely a year in the corporation. Given this, the Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca , condemned the events from his Twitter account: “I regret and condemn the aggression that occurred this afternoon against elements of @SSP_GobTam when they were carrying out their work and confronting alleged migrant smugglers. The Gulf Cartel has a fight with the Cartel del Noreste (CDN) for the control of the border municipalities of Tamaulipas, mainly since the leader of this last organization criminal, Juan Gerardo Treviño, alias el Huevo, was arrested and extradited to the United States.
