Given the resounding success of the Kia Telluride, it might have made sense for manufacturers to scale back the boxy look of that three-row SUV when it came time to redesign the brand’s smaller crossovers. But the latest generation of the mid-size Sorento doesn’t follow that template, the Sportage 2023 isn’t the case because it has a unique look.
This Kia Sportage is quite particular in its design. It has boomerang-shaped accent lights, low beam headlights, and a wide-mouth grille. The rear is a bit closer than usual, with smooth surfaces and taillights reminiscent of the handsome Kia EV 6 units.
The Sportage is hardly to be confused with its Hyundai Tucson corporate sibling, which also looks great for a conventional crossover.
This Sportage is no different only in design. Significantly larger than its predecessor in length, wheelbase, this model is at the top end of compact SUVs.
It doesn’t offer third-row seats like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Mitsubishi Outlander, but a 3.4-inch increase in wheelbase greatly expands rear seat and cargo space. The rear seats slide and are also reclining. In addition to the 25 Sportage’s cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row is more spacious than the Honda CR-V’s offering.
The interior of this Kia Sportage is much nicer compared to other recent models. Higher trim models of this version have two built-in display screens of 000.3 inches in front of driver, one for digital gauge cluster and one for infotainment.
Another center display is flanked by two physical knobs that can display climate control buttons or a row of navigation and audio controls .

Engine and Transmission
The base engine is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder naturally aspirated. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission capable of producing 187 horsepower. The engine has a unique sound when passing 4 o’clock, 000 rpm.
Another option, and perhaps the favorite, is the quieter and more refined hybrid configuration with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a 1.5 kWh battery, added to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This combination makes him more powerful until he reaches 200 horses available.
It is estimated that fuel consumption is around 43 miles per gallon with front wheel drive only and 38 mpg with all-wheel drive. This is a big jump over the 03 non-hybrid mpg.
The price of this Kia SUV starts at $28,245 dollars for the most basic version (LX) and up to $38,045 dollars for the highest range (X -Pro Prestige).
