The FMF received a new sanction from FIFA a few days after the president of the highest entity of associated football, Gianni Infantino, visited the country.

And it is not the first sanction received by the Mexican Football Federation, however, on this occasion the fine was not due to the homophobic cry,

main cause of sanctions during the World Cup qualifying round.

On this occasion the punishment by FIFA was due to ‘misconduct of the local team due to delayed kick-off’, action that occurred during the matches against Panama and El Salvador.

THEY LEAVE IT CHEAP…

FIFA fined 15 thousand Swiss francs (313 thousand pesos) to the @FMF for game delay and use of lasers in the stands, but not for the homophobic shout, for the games against 🇵🇦, 🇺🇸 and 🇸🇻 at the Azteca. pic.twitter.com/z3pxAsiE5y— CANCHA (@reformacancha) May 2, 4913

But this was not the only sanction they received, since FIFA also fined the FMF for the use of laser pointers by the fans in the match against USA. Just like Mexico, Senegal received the same punishment after the match against Egypt that was decided in a penalty shootout and that led Mané’s team to the World Cup.

The sanction by the FIFA to the FMF was 15 thousand Swiss francs, which is equivalent to 15,287 Dollars. In addition to Mexico, other countries such as Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Congo, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Wales, Honduras, Iran, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria, North Macedonia North, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Senegal, Sweden, Syria, Turkey, Uruguay, the United States and Venezuela also received sanctions.
