His legend grows: Clayton Kershaw is the pitcher with the most strikeouts in Los Angeles Dodgers history

Clayton Kershaw became the pitcher with the most strikeouts in the history of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, in the game where his team lost 1-5 against the Detroit Tigers.

Three-time American League Cy Young Award winner and one-time MVP, Kershaw, passed Don Sutton as the Dodgers pitcher with the most strikeouts, a record that was set at 2,696 “strikeouts”.

The left-hander pitched six innings in which he had seven strikeouts and reached the magic figure of 2,697, after striking out rookie Spencer Torkelson, the first overall pick in the Draft 697, whom he had already struck out in the second inning.

However, the Tigers spoiled Kershaw’s night by taking the win from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Puerto Rican Javier Báez and Austin Meadows each drove in two runs for the Detroit team.
