Sergio Musella

If you go back in time to August of 2021, the uncertainty was in the replacement of Zinedine Zidane, who stepped aside after having finished a blank season with the Real Madrid, but with the surprising return of the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, things they had a happy ending in the Spanish league and with a compact team that endured a difficult path to win their title 35 in Spanish football.

Team play

At the beginning of season one of the challenges for Real Madrid was to find some players without having to spend a lot. With the arrival of David Alaba it was possible to reinforce a defense that had the loss of two of its greatest and most successful figures such as the captain Sergio Ramos al PSG and Rafael Varane to Manchester United. From then on, Carlo Ancelotti as a good team architect, began to design a solid defense, an unbreakable midfield and an attack that had as its main protagonist the French Karin Benzema and two leaders who served as Vinicius and Rodrygo.

The unity of the locker room and the role that some key players had to assume in recent years, it allowed the coach to better manage the roles on the field and without having to fall into controversy or discussion. Every decision was agreed with the players and they accepted it.

Marcelo, for example, the oldest of the squad for having arrived in 2007 to Real Madrid when he was a youth, he assumed a secondary role and without problems. Luka Jovic, who has long waited for him, had no problem being one of those relegated to the bench along with Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale, who did not have the expected number of games due to their physical problems.

A solid midfield

The Real Madrid has maintained a luxury midfield. Due to their numbers they can be compared as one of the best of the decade, due to their understanding, personality and effectiveness thanks to the extraordinary physical condition of Luka Modric, despite having 33 years and every day being more protagonist, together with the duo Toni Kroos and Casemiro. This trio has had to educate youngsters like Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, who are emerging as the present and future of the Madrid midfield.

Reaction At peak times

Real Madrid were expected to have many problems during the season for having a very short template; however, none of this was so. Much was said about the defeat in the Champions League against Sheriff of Moldova and the defeats in the League against Espanyol and Getafe that generated a lot of criticism. But again, at specific moments they were once again that team that grows in the big events, although the only negative point was against Barcelona in the 0-4 win at the Santiago Bernabéu that thrilled their greatest rivals, but served to put their feet on the ground and begin to sweep Spain.
