Missing Deputy Director of Corrections Vicki White broke protocol when she accompanied inmate Casey White from jail this morning to apparently take him to court in Lauderdale County, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said.

The inmate and the corrections officer are not related.

Authorities said that Casey White was being held on charges of capital murder and that two sworn officers should have been with him at all times, including during transportation to court.

Vicki White coordinates all He did not transport them from the detention center to the courthouse and therefore was aware of the protocol, the bailiff added.

Singleton said that although Casey White was allegedly being transported for a mental health evaluation at the courthouse, they have since learned that no evaluation or other court hearing was scheduled for him on Friday.

“Knowing the inmate, I think she is in danger, regardless of the circumstances… She was in jail for capital murder and had nothing to lose,” Singleton told CNN.

Authorities are now looking at all possibilities of what happened, including whether the prison officer helped Casey White escape.

“Whether she helped him or not, we don’t know, and we won’t address it until we have absolute proof that that’s what happened. We assume at this point that she was abducted against her will, unless we can prove absolutely otherwise,” Singleton added.

Authorities said they are still looking for and investigating any interaction between the correctional officer and Casey White, as well as any phone call you received.

When Vicki White walked Casey White out of jail, she told the guard she would drop him off at the courthouse and then he would seek medical attention because he was not feeling well.

The bailiff said that Casey White never made it to court and that Vicki White did not make it to the scene where he said he would seek medical attention.

The authorities did not realize they were missing until several hours later.

His patrol car, a Ford Taurus 2013, was last seen in a downtown parking lot. shopping mall around 11 am by someone who was at lunch, Singleton said.

Around 3: 30 pm, the officers of The jail was concerned and tried to contact her, but her phone kept coming up directly on voicemail. Then they found out that Casey White had not returned to jail.

Vicki White has been in the department for 25 years and is eligible to retire, which he said he would in recent months, Singleton added.

“All precautions were taken. The question we have for Principal White is why did she violate the policy,” Singleton said. Casey White is considered armed and dangerous. Vicki White “was armed with a 9mm pistol, which means we assume he is armed,” Singleton added.
