Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022: the best food images of the year
The photo of a street food vendor in front of a smoke-covered oven won an award for food photography.

These are images captured around the world that awaken our senses.
The contest Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022, a major food photography competition, revealed its winners this Wednesday.
According to its organizers, thousands of images from more than 60 countries.
The selected ones were announced in a live event broadcast online.
The overall winner of the competition was photographer Debdatta Chakraborty, a native of India.
The image you submitted is titled Kebabiyana and shows a street vendor preparing various skewers in front of a smoky oven in Srinagar, also in India.
Chakraborty took the photo on a busy street as vendors lit up charcoal ovens at night.
“In today’s world, more than ever, we feel the need for comfort, for love,” said Caroline Kenyon, founder and director of the awards.
“There is much that calms us here: the billowing embrace of the beautifully captured smoke, the golden light, the expression of the subject as he prepares the meal to share. Sparks fly from the skewers, whose roasting we can almost smell. We imagine the warm and delicious aroma”, he added.

Taittinger Champagne Celebration Food Award: “Traditional Skill”, by Chen Ying, China“Taken at a small farm in Qiaolian Village, Xiangyu County, Putian City, Fujian Province. A family gets together to make dumplings stuffed with rice or mung beans. They use a wooden stamp to stamp the words ‘fortune’ or ‘happiness’ into the red dough, and steam the meatballs in a large steamer. This tradition means that the New Year will be prosperous”.
Food prize in the table: “Organizing the Ritz”, by John Carey, United Kingdom
“The Art of the Table is part of the experience at The Ritz restaurant”.
Fujifilm Award for Innovation: “Central Park”, by Yuliy Vasilev, Bulgaria
“The image is part of my ongoing project called Foodtopia, a miniature world created with food.”
Claire Aho Award for Women Photographers: “At the Table”, by Marguerite Oelofse, South Africa“Celebrating African heritage, fused with a touch of inspiration from French post-impressionist artist Henri Matisse. The painterly aesthetic in my photography creates a three-dimensional feel through the use of bold colors, shapes, and textures. These elements are native to our diverse South African culture. At the Table is a celebration of the fruits of our freedom.”
On the phone: “Cod drying”, by Kasia Ciesielska-Faber, United Kingdom“In the Lofoten archipelago, Norway, cod grids have become part of the landscape . Cod is preserved by drying on large racks without the need for salt or smoke, as temperatures are just below freezing. The climate is perfect for outdoor cod production.”

Pink Lady Food Southeast Asia Photo of the Year: “Anchovy Catch”, by Thien Nguyen Ngoc, Vietnam
“The soft light of a new day illuminates the smoke from the fishing boat’s engine and the shape of the green nets moving below the surface of the water as local fishermen pull in their nets. Many local fishing families along the coast of Phú Yên province, Vietnam, will follow the coastal currents to fish for anchovies during the high season. Salted anchovy is the most important raw material used to create traditional fish sauce: the spirit of Vietnamese cuisine.”
