Retail giant Walmart announced that, in its fight to help its plus members save a few cents amid rising inflation, you have decided to increase your gas discount.
Now, instead of offering a 5 cent discount, consumers will find a savings of 10 cents for each gallon purchased. The discount starts from this Wednesday.
The benefit is already available at Walmart and Murphy gas stations. Walmart+ also provides access to member prices at Sam’s Club fuel centers.
In addition, Walmart also reported that it is expanding the availability of the discount, allowing its members to use it at 12,000 Exxon and Mobil stations.
“Fuel is not really a discretionary purchase,” said Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president and general manager Walmart+ in a statement.
“We see that members have to buy fuel to manage their daily lives. We think this will really help them save more money” , he added .
Walmart previously offered a discount of only 5 cents per gallon to Walmart+ subscribers, and only in 2, Murphy gas stations and Sam’s Club and Walmart stores with gas pumps.
The national average price of regular gasoline is around $4.13 dollars per gallon as of Wednesday, according to AAA.
Prices at the gas station have stopped falling in recent weeks from their recent highs and experts warn of another rebound as the season approaches summer and the war in Ukraine continues.
Walmart launched its Walmart+ membership in September 2022, which offers a variety of similar benefits to those of Amazon and its Prime subscription.
Features include unlimited free delivery from stores and a Scan & Go feature to shop without queuing at the physical store. The service is available for $100 per year or $12.98 per month.
The company has a massive retail business in online, but has struggled to maintain the loyalty that hundreds of millions of Prime subscribers give to Amazon

Walmart has not disclosed how many subscribers its Walmart+ service has, but Deutsche Bank estimated it had grown to more than 27 millions last fall, reaching “a tipping point”.
