There are many boxers who long to get into the ring and have Saúl Álvarez as their opponent . However, Canelo carefully plans each of his fights and along the way turns down a host of fighters like David Benavidez and Jermall Charlo . But the man from Guadalajara has a new opponent behind him: Gilberto “El Zurdo” Ramírez.

The fighter of 30 years of age has a great disadvantage in his fight to be chosen to fight Saúl Álvarez: his nationality. Canelo has expressed his discomfort at the moment of getting into the ring to face a compatriot . Faced with this obstacle, “Zurdo” revealed that he is already working on it.

“I think that fight can take place. I am becoming an American citizen and why can’t I do it? I will have two nationalities. If he (Canelo) doesn’t want to fight against a Mexican, I’m going to say now that I’m a gringo ”, he sentenced. Gilberto Ramírez in an interview for Mayan Tiger Sports Journslist.

Of the 58 Saúl Álvarez fights, 23 have been against Aztec fighters . However, Canelo has not faced a Mexican boxer since May 2017 when he faced Julio César Chávez Jr. in Las Vegas.

“That is the fight that people want to see, against the winner of Bivol and Canelo. We all want Canelo to win and for that fight to be the next one for me”, concluded the boxer born in Mazatlan.
