Russia is the target of several economic sanctions due to the invasion of Ukraine and several Western multinationals have withdrawn from the country. But Beijing, which is a close diplomatic ally of Moscow, has so far refused to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
DJI is one of the few Chinese companies which has publicly made the decision to suspend its activities in Russia.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov wrote a letter to DJI last month in which accused the Russian Army of using the company’s drones to attack civilians. “We ask your company to cease all relations and business with Russia,” Fedorov urged in the letter he posted on Twitter.
The Chinese company replied on Tuesday (27.04.2022) in a statement: “DJI is internally evaluating compliance requirements in various jurisdictions,” it said. “Pending this evaluation, DJI will temporarily suspend all commercial activities in Russia and Ukraine,” he added.
