Tesla CEO Elon Musk refused to work together with Bill Gates on climate change, because the founder of Microsoft did not show his support for the self-driving car company headed by Musk.
After a screenshot of an alleged text message conversation between Musk and Gates, the CEO of Space X, was released in recent days confirmed the veracity of the talk between the billionaires, although he did not specify when it happened.
It all begins when, in what seems like a plan to meet, Musk asks the 22 year old billionaire, “Do you still have a half-billion dollar short sale against Tesla?”, referring to the advance that the company’s shares would decrease.
In response, Gates replies that he’s sorry to say he “hasn’t closed it yet” and later adds that he’d like to talk “about philanthropic positions.”
Musk says he can’t take Gates’ philanthropy on climate change “seriously when you’re massively short against Tesla”, the company that, considers, “does more to solve climate change”.
According to Musk, the conversation he had with Gates was not leaked personally, and he assumes that the media obtained it through “friends of friends”.
This is not the first time that both tycoons have disagreed. During the highest peak of the Covid pandemic , Gates shared his impressions of Musk to combat the situation and said that “he is not very involved in vaccines”, but in the manufacture of cars and rockets.
“Elon’s position is to maintain a high level of scandalous comments”, said the Seattle billionaire on that occasion.
For his part, Musk recently uploaded a tweet where he makes fun of Gates’s appearance with that of a pregnant man.
