The Barcelona directed by Xavi Hernández deflated quickly falling defeated against Rayo Vallecano as a local by 0-1, to which the Catalan coach assured that the errors were repeated again and that the team has been unable to turn around adverse situations.
With a Rayo Vallecano who took advantage a great opportunity to get away from the relegation places, Barcelona ended up blocking only from the first minutes of the match and Xavi assured in the press conference after the game about what happened.
“We have not entered with the intensity, the desire and the impetus that the game required. We can’t afford it. On the other hand, in the second half we reacted, but we couldn’t score”, he commented.
“These mistakes cannot be repeated and it has happened to us again. The day of Cádiz and today are games that we have to win, and more so at home. The same pattern is repeated as against Cádiz. They are ahead of us on the scoreboard and we are unable to turn it around. We get into trouble”, added Xavi Hernández.
Catching up with Real Madrid is impossible
Barcelona has wasted two opportunities to stay in the fight but the defeat against Cádiz and now against Rayo Vallecano, leaves the way open for Real Madrid to have to add a single point to become champion.
With five games to go, Barcelona remains in second place in the table and six units ahead of Betis, who are in the fifth position that gives direct access to the UEFA Europa League.
