Mexico’s coach, Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, will be absent again with El Tri when he faces his counterpart from Guatemala in Orlando, Florida in preparation for the Qatar World Cup 2022.

The information was confirmed by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). ) through a statement, in which they underline that the Argentine coach finally did not receive a medical discharge

for his eye problem.

For several days it was already speculated that Martino would not be on the tour of the United States because he did not have the consent of the doctors treating his eye problem, specifically a retinal detachment.

“The strategist did not receive a medical discharge from the surgical procedure to which he underwent last February, which prevents him from seeing leave by plane to avoid any risk to your ability to see”

As in several games of the Concacaf qualifiers, it will be his assistant Jorge Theiler who sits down to direct the Mexicans that will have among its pieces the midfielder and young promise Marcelo Flores, who seeks to keep a position for Qatar 2022, as well as striker Alejandro Zendejas, from Club América.

The Martino’s repeated absence in several key clashes, considering that El Tri does not finish showing an optimal level of play and efficiency in front of the goal, has generated discomfort in the environment of the selection.

“The retinal detachment procedure has a part that consists of putting a gas bubble so that the retina takes its proper place. and as long as that bubble does not dissolve I am not able to travel by plane due to pressure, ”the Argentine coach said at a press conference when he rained down a wave of criticism for his absences.
